Beautiful porcelain for the table.
Based near to Poitiers, France, Fanny Laugier works with earthenware to create a "trompe-l’oeil" effect that gives the impression of paper : using a very thin layer of raw material that is cut, folded, rolled, and then "glued", Fanny creates designs that are uniquely contemporary and refined.
Through this process which, by folding, builds up the volume of the material, she can experiment with the elasticity of the porcelain. The translucent quality of the material allows the fold lines to be visible through the finished products. This emphasizes the delicate appearance of paper.
Fanny prefers to leave the porcelain unglazed in order to accentuate its natural appearance and to highlight the different textures she has created which resemble fabric, mesh or card.
